Hastings Lions held their 40th Anniversary Hastings Half Marathon on Sunday 24th March 2024.

The Ruby Anniversary event had over 3,000 entrants and raised thousands of pounds for the club ( the total will be announced shortly), although the amount raised generally through individual participant sponsorships for a multitude of good causes normally equates to around a quarter of a million pounds.

Club President Dave Luck said " This year's event was a huge success and generates an incredible amount of funds for the club and for a multitude of charities and voluntary organisations at local, regional and national level.

This event would be impossible to put on without the help and support of our many sponsors, our volunteer marshals, our event management team at Nice Work Ltd and of course our participants and spectators who really make the event a success. "

Mayor of Hastings Cllr Margi O'callaghan officially launched the event and was escorted around the event by Lions Vice President Brett McLean who doubles as one of the UK's 490 Platinum Champions.

Brett said " This year's event was a special one for the club as it celebrated its 40th Anniversary marking the millions of pounds raised over the past 4 decades to benefit local individuals, good causes, fellow charities and voluntary organisations that are in need of support.

Hastings Lions are in deed the organisation consisting of Local Individuals Offering Needed Support.

The 41st Hastings Half Marathon will be held on Sunday 23rd March 2025 with the date to be announced shortly.
