Bexhill Christmas Crackers We held a variety of FUNdraising and Community activities over the Christmas period to bring festive fun to all ages. Our Santa Dash and Santa Paws attracted record entries, the majority of whom braved the bad weather to take part. We had warm up exercises, support from the Marine cadets and the Town Cryer started the event. The De La Warr Pavilion very generously provided mulled apple juice after the dash. The popular "Christmas Hamper Lucky Draw" was supported by a range of businesses across the town. For just £1, participants can pick 1 of 102 numbered slots at each venue to have the chance to win their Christmas hamper. Children were delighted to visit Santa's Grotto at Wetherspoons' The Picture Playhouse. They were able to enjoy a magical experience of meeting Father Christmas in his grotto and telling him their Christmas wishes. His elves were also on hand to help him out. The visit to Santa’s Grotto was the perfect way for them to start the festive season. We were at the "Christmas Lights On" event offering mulled wine and mince pies which proved to be very popular. We also had a very successful tombola stall. In addition to these, the Town Council asked us to organise a Christmas Market on the night. Given the short notice we were very pleased to welcome 26 traders all of whom had a great evening. Tins were rattled and the zettle was connected at our 3 days of collections at Tesco. This was our best year ever with £900 collected in one day. Treasurer George was busy in his counting house. 200 banknotes and 4.450 coins, which provided some unplanned Christmas exercise in carrying these to the Post Office, as they weighed 28kg! We have also been busy supporting community activities. Club members were on hand at the Sidley Festival Fun Christmas lights switch on, to help with marshalling the crowd. The Bexhill Chamber of Commerce and Tourism organised a fundraising Curry Christmas evening with a blind raffle and live entertainment. As their charity partner, they kindly donated all the profit from the evening to the Club. The Earlsfield Court Luxury Care Home approached us to run a tombola stall at their Christmas Fayre, which was very well attended. Residents, guests and the public were treated to mulled wine and a range of food whilst listening to a local choir. The Care Home is very community focused and hosts our monthly community services meetings. After all that, many of the members met for a well earned drink at The Strand, a newly opened pub in town. At the end of January we will be having our delayed Club Christmas meal. We wish you all a very Happy and successful 2025. Manage Cookie Preferences
