The Club was invited to the Fire Cadet presentation evening as one of the sponsors of the Bexhill unit. Lion President June was joined by Rick, VP Sue Saunders and Gary Saunders. The Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of young fire cadets and recognize the dedication, skills, and community service of the cadets who have participated in the program.

Those attending included the Chief and Deputy Officers from the Fire Service, the High Sheriff of East Sussex and those who had helped start the programme.

Parade drills were done by all units and then all Cadets received certificates. Some gave short speeches about what being a fire cadet means to them, and how much it has changed them for the better. One cadet was recognised with a special award for the way he dealt with an incident when out with friends. He came across a distressed man on the railway line, he helped get the man off the line and called the Police so that he could remain safe and get the help and support he needed. Some of the cadets who have reached 18 have now applied to join the main Fire Service but will still return to the cadets as volunteer leaders.

Rick commented "What an uplifting experience, a great evening and very motivating."

Sue added " I'm so pleased that we could support the Unit as well as sponsor a cadet for a year and hope we will be able to do so again as it is such a valuable programme for young people. They learn all about what it means to be a fire fighter, teamwork and the value of community involvement. It gives them an opportunity to gain qualifications and make new friends, whilst learning valuable life skills that will help them in the future."
