Brain Tumour Research Lions in the South East of England are supporting our national appeal, in which Lions Clubs International (MD105) have partnered with Brain Tumour Research, in order to raise £1million over the next 4 years. The good news is that £320K has been raised so far, which is a significant sum of money. Brain Tumour Research is funding the building of a network of experts at dedicated research centres. By the summer of 2025, six of these centres will be open throughout the country. To run one of the centres costs approximately £2,740 per day. Lions clubs have been supporting this campaign by supporting the national projects such as ‘wear a hat day’ and their own individual initiatives such as golf days and dog shows. Please support the development of our partnership initiative and help raise funds for Brain Tumour Research. My own club, Adur East, has been very active, and has, in addition to individual sponsored events, supported the ‘wear a hat day’ each Spring. We take a stall in the local Shoreham Artisans market and encourage the community to wear a special hat and make a donation. Last year an article in a local journal resulted in a number of local people visiting the stall just to make a donation to this wonderful cause and share stories of loved ones. We have also held three successful golf days and are planning our biggest one ever at Hill Barn Golf Club, Worthing on 17th July 2025. It would be great if any of you are golfers, or know golfers, and are able to support us. I have attached the flyer with the details. The cost of the day is £75. It is a Texas Scramble with a shotgun start at 9.00am. Coffee and a bacon roll on arrival (vegetarian option available). There are prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive. The golf is followed by a buffet lunch and charity auction and raffle. The signature hole is par 3 eleventh hole. It has an elevated green surrounded by bunkers. I have attached a photo, but it doesn’t quite do it justice. Please contact me to book this event or for any further information at [email protected] To achieve our target is challenging and we are relying on your generous support. Thank you to those who have already championed this wonderful cause. You can also show your support by donating on the 105SE Lions Giving Page. As the Childhood Cancer service officer, I am happy to support you with any fundraising event. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at the above email address. Manage Cookie Preferences
