The Christmas Collections with Santa and his sleigh were somewhat reduced this year due to the lack of younger, fitter members. Thanks to Morrisons Oxted and Church Walk Caterham, and to the good people of Godstone who supported the mobile collections. And grateful thanks to a small army of non-Lions who made the door to door collections possible. The total raised was just over £2,400, the majority of which went to support Caterham Food Bank and the balance to Lions SightSavers. (see photo Caterham Food Bank donation)

A Dinner Meeting was held in January, an opportunity for Club Members to socialise and we heard from the Head-to-Head Charity (a sensory theatre group in Oxted for special needs young people) we have supported.

Six members of the Club will be heading to Canterbury in February for the District Convention (the Lions of South East England’s AGM) which mixes business with pleasure. On Friday 14th being Valantine’s day, there is a suitable themed meal before a full day of business on Saturday topped off by the traditional banquet and ball in the evening. An opportunity to meet up with old friends and to make new ones from all over the South East.

Tickets are going fast for our Trivia Quiz on March 8th, teams of 4, tickets £15 to include supper (vegetarians catered for if notified in advance), cash bar and raffle. Contact Lion Tony on 01883 335945 or Lion John on 01883 742680

Looking even further ahead, our annual Swimathon will take place on the 10th May at De Stafford Pool in Caterham on the Hill. If your group would like to take part and raise money for your own charity as well as Lions’ charities, please make contact for an information pack to [email protected]
