LP June Hough welcomed DG Steve Carley, The Mayor of Bexhill, Club Members, family and friends and guests from six other Lions Clubs to the event at the Relais Cooden Beach.

June was keen to have a relaxed evening so short speeches were the order of the day. Her speech was entertaining and she thanked Members for their hard work and commitment over the past year with a wide range of FUNdraising and community activities.

MC Simon Edwards then introduced DG Steve who congratulated Brian Mewett on 45 years of service and presented 3 year service certificates to Sue and Gary Saunders. He went on the thank the Club for being so active in the community and also for attracting 20 new members over the past three years.

Lion Sue Saunders, with some light hearted comments, thanked other Lions Clubs for showing their support by attending the dinner and invited Bexhill Lions to stand and toast their visitors and guests.

Cllr. Paul Wilson responded by saying he was aware of the range of activities undertaken by members which make a real difference to individuals as well as charities and community groups. He went on to say that the Club was highly regarded and thanked members for their support of the local community.

He concluded by thanking all voluntary groups for their time and energy and said that without them our communities would be in a very poor state.

An excellent dinner followed, after which a short break was taken before Geri and the Attrix got everybody onto the dance floor to enjoy the rest of the evening.
