Lions Quiz for Canterbury and District Food Bank The Lions held their last quiz of the year for the Canterbury Foodbank, in recognition of the service they provide to the local community. The Lions have a long history of support for the Foodbank and there was a warm welcome for all the members of their teams who joined in the quiz, which raised a total of £1,250. Canterbury Food Bank can provide a food parcel that would last a family for at least three days. Food Bank supplies have recently increased to ten thousand a month, supported by cash donations of sixty percent and goods of forty percent , facilitated by two hundred volunteers and ten trustees. ‘Signposters’ are what makes the charity distinct from many other food banks. In addition to arranging for emergency food to be delivered, they offer guidance on a range of measures that can help people out of the situation that has brought them to a food bank’s door. This additional advice can cover applications for extra funds from councils and charities, with information on benefits they may be entitled to. The popular Quiz Nights will be back on 18th January at the Masonic Hall, 150 Cromwell Rd, Whitstable CT5 1NA, 7.00 for 7.30 pm. The Lions are there to meet and greet old friends and welcome new ones and the aim is the same, to enjoy quizzing, spend an enjoyable evening with friends and raise money for worthy causes.
