Out and About in Dover with Father Christmas Dover Lions were off on our travels around Dover with Santa. The weather wasn’t too kind to us during the first week, but thankfully the second week was a great improvement. Volunteers from The Air Cadets, Sea Cadets and local Scout Groups always join us on our trips out with Santa, and they will be rewarded later with donations for their club funds. Their help is invaluable, and despite the weather they were all in great spirits. Lots of singing along with the music adding to the brilliant atmosphere. Everyone walks the entire two-hour route each evening, including the man in the red coat, suitably armed with his bucket of chocolates. No comfy sleigh ride for him!! He loved chatting to all the children as we travelled around, and as always, their excitement was a joy to behold. This year he met with almost 1500 of them, and every one of them was given a small gift. As always, such a lovely atmosphere……. although it must be said that most of us are reaching an age where we wish Dover wasn’t built on so many hills!! 😊 Finally……WE HAVE SOME PLASTIC BOATS FOR SALE For many years, Dover Lions organised a Boxing Day Boat Race. This event has now been retired from our fundraising calendar, so we have 1,000 small, numbered plastic boats that are surplus to requirements, and looking for a new home. Open to offers.
