The Lavender fields at Shoreham in Kent was the destination for the Ladies from Uckfield Trefoil, using the Uckfield Lions mini bus and a Lions driver, 14 ladies of the Trefoil guild were booked on the trip.

On one of the warmest days of the year, they arrived in time for a coffee or ice cream, followed by a walk round the Lavender fields which were in full bloom, after a couple of hours wandering and shopping in the gift shop it was time for lunch.

Having in the morning done battle with the extremely narrow lanes around Shoreham, the driver took the easier but slightly longer route to Polhill garden centre at Badgers mount Sevenoaks for lunch in the large restaurant and a wander round the even bigger garden centre, fortunately the bus had enough space to be able to store a large range of plants, and garden products

Heading back about 3pm via the A25 then through the countryside to Edenbridge and across the Ashdown Forest.

Uckfield lions minibus is regularly used by the Luxford centre and Grants hill court for outings, Uckfield Tech college have used it and the bus has been to Sealife centre in Brighton twice with Chiddingly and Park Mead primary schools at Hailsham for school outings in the last few weeks, all made possible by Lions drivers.

The Lions bus is available for community groups to use with their own driver D1 required on license or if available a Lions driver for a £1.00 a mile  inc fuel, It is not available for PRIVATE hire .For more information fill in the contact page on Lions website www.uckfield-lions.org.uk.

Following a post on Facebook seen by a member of Uckfield and District Lions club, where Selby meadows group was running out of play pit sand and the funds to buy more, Uckfield lions have made a donation to the group of £100.00.

It has been agreed that a small amount of the money will be used to buy materials to keep the sand in the sand pit and the rest for play pit sand

The sand pit is regularly used by the young children using Selby meadows and was made and donated by The Uckfield men’s shed.
